SIERRA MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
All music must be performed from memory.
Judging will be based upon tone, intonation, technique, rhythm, musical understanding, interpretation, musical effect, memory stage presence and poise. Please wear appropriate dress.
To qualify for a scholarship, a student must exhibit exceptional musicianship. In the event the judges feel no applicant is truly worthy, no scholarship will be granted for that year. The decision of the judges is final.
The amount of the scholarship will vary from year to year, depending upon the monies available from the Music Scholarship Fund.
Applicants should prepare one classical composition from the appropriate standard repertoire.
Applicants must provide own accompanist for competition and three copies of the music.
Applicants 10 to 14 years old should prepare a selection suggested to be at least two (2) minutes in length.
Applicants 15 to 20 years old should prepare a selection suggested to be three (3) to four (4) minutes in length.
Applications must be submitted by January 27, 2018.
Auditions will be held on February 17, 2018.
Award recipients will be requested to perform at the at St. James Concert Series concert on March 11, 2018. Appropriate concert dress will be required.
