Julie Sieben

Soprano

Julie Sieben, soprano, received her BA in music performance from California State University, San Bernardino. Since moving to Sonora in 1983 she has been a member of the Columbia Community Chorus, the Sonora Opera guild and the Sonora Master Chorale and has been a featured soloist with the Symphony of the Sierra and has performed in prior St. James Concerts. She has studied with the late Val Stuart, Dawn Petersen of Modesto, Linelle Weims of the University of the Pacific, and currently with John Carter. Ms. Sieben is Patient Educator at Donaldson Eye Care, gives private voice lessons, and enjoys spending time with her fiancé Mark and their two cats.

Kevin Hemstreet, baritone, is Julie's nephew. After fifteen years of retirement from performing following the loss of most of his eyesight, Kevin is thoroughly enjoying his return. In the past, he has appeared in operas and shows such as Fiddler on The Roof, The Magic Flute, Man of La Mancha, among others. He has worked extensively as a professional soloist, chorister and studio musician. Mr. Hemstreet received his education in music at the University of Arizona and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology and counseling at Arizona State University. He works as a clinical mental health therapist.

Gail Johnson, pianist, retired from an adjunct position at Columbia College in 2012, simultaneously with most of her work as an accompanist in the local community. At the College she had long accompanied in Dance, Theatre, Jazz and Music Departments, and was instructor for all piano classes there. Her experience in the wider community as pianist includes SRT Gala, Summerville High School, Sonora High School, Waldorf School and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
